The Artists:
Jefferson Berry combines storytelling in the Urban Folk tradition with the intricacies of JamBand and Roots instrumentation. Playing a variety of guitar styles, Berry’s projects bring a danceable style and contemporary point of view to Philadelphia’s music scene. From the drunk on the town to the cop on the take, there’s an interesting tale in the songs of Jefferson Berry. Berry’s lyrics are informed by his years in corporate media followed by a dozen years teaching history, economics and government to inner-city Philadelphia high school students. Symeer Woods (aka Lil Uzi Vert) and the late Rasheen Jones (aka Runup Rico) were among his students. Last summer, Berry played the Philadelphia Folk Festival in August, and the Extreme Folk Festival in June. Following two records with his band, Jefferson Berry and the Urban Acoustic Coalition, his first solo album, Dreams of Modern Living, came out in January.
Singer-songwriter Meaghan Kyle has been a part of the Philadelphia music community for nearly 15 years. Very experienced as a backup singer in genres ranging from rock to country and folk to funk, her solo style is soulful Americana. She is formerly one third of the vocal harmony trio, No Good Sister, whose 2017 album You Can Love Me garnered a glowing 3.5 star review in the Philadelphia Inquirer and found its way to the Americana Billboard charts and on airwaves across the globe. Meaghan has recently teamed up with fellow Philadelphia singer-songwriter Scott Silipigni to form the Americana duo, The Duvals, writing and performing new original music. She continues to love singing harmony with other bands and artists, and does so regularly with the NJ based Rock-Country band Bullzeye. Other bands and artists she has performed and/or recorded with include: Nicole Atkins, Tom Brosseau, Gregory Page, Kenny Rogers, Christie Lenée, Swift Technique, Countdown to Ecstasy, Lowlands, Jefferson Berry, A Fistful of Sugar, Shane Dodd, Midnight Singers, Neil Nathan, Rich Adams, and many more.
Erin Ash Sullivan is a Massachusetts-based folk singer-songwriter who loves a good storytelling song. In 2021, she released her debut solo album, We Can Hear Each Other, which reached #10 on the Folk Alliance International DJ Chart. In 2022, she was a “Most Wanted” selection from the Grassy Hill Emerging Artist Showcase at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, the recipient of the Mark Erelli Judge’s Choice Award in the New England Songwriting Competition, and a Songwriter Serenade Semifinalist. Victor Infante of the Worcester Telegram & Gazette describes her music as “delicate and evocative” with songs full of “nuance and emotional resonance.”
Aaron Nathans is a Philadelphia-based alternative folk music singer, songwriter and recording artist with a distinct sound, due in large part to a combination of rhythmic acoustic guitar, wide-ranging baritone vocals and beautiful melodies that you won’t soon forget. When pairing that with talented songwriting that touches on everyday life and easily connects with audiences, you’ll see why Aaron is someone you won’t want to miss. Aaron has a unique brand of storytelling. He writes about things no one else has written about before—like a song about male bonding between a guy and his barber. Or the onslaught of the outside world upon a new parent. Surely somebody's written that song, right? Ok, find it. Aaron describes his songs as, “wild-mind, bittersweet acoustic music.” This doesn’t mean somber. It means you’re in for a treat whether you’re watching Aaron at a live show or tuning in to his extensive Spotify and YouTube playlists. He creates an unforgettable listening experience that keeps audiences on the edge of their seat.
