About the event
ABOUT THE EVENT
Experience a unique showcase of incredible songs, storytelling, collaboration and community. This concert series brings you 4 talented songwriters curated by Aaron Nathans, Avi Wisnia, and Meghan Cary. Each month, a different line up of stand out artists share the stage, taking turns performing an eclectic variety of original songs, sharing the stories behind those songs, and speaking to the unique perspective that comes with having strong connections to the Philadelphia music scene.
ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Alex Radus is known as a “versatile crooner” (Underground Music Collective) and “master guitarist” (Courier News), but his songwriting takes center stage. Known affectionately for giving audiences genre whiplash, Radus pairs whimsical and poignant storytelling with an eclectic mix of Americana, swing, folk and more. John Gorka has called him a “remarkable artist…an excellent songwriter and singer…worth going out of your way to hear”. His most recent release, Tributaries, was recorded live at the legendary listening room, Godfrey Daniels.
Jessica Smucker is the kind of writer and performer who can lull a noisy room into a hush with a single line. Wrapped in catchy melodies, her lyrics appear simple and relatable on the surface, but each listen will uncover more hidden pockets of nuance. Based in Lancaster, PA, Jessica performs all over the U.S. and has won several national songwriting awards. She has released two EPs, three full-length albums, a handful of singles, and plans to release more music in early 2024.
Todd Chappelle is a funny songwriter From Delaware County, PA who does a mix of humorous original songs and parodies. His music is influenced by such artists as Weird Al Yankovic, Tom Lehrer and Mark Russell. Todd’s songs have been heard on CNN Radio, Good Day Philadelphia, the Preston and Steve Show on 93.3 WMMR and The Dr. Demento Show. He appeared in the 2015 PBS specials "Dela-Where?" and "Dela-Where 2?", and in 2019 on the PBS show "Counter Culture". Todd is a dynamic live act who has performed his humorous music at the New York Funny Songs Festival, the Philadelphia Funny Songs Festival, the Chicago Comedy Rock Festival, and numerous local venues. He was also the winner of the "Delmarva Folk Hero" contest at the 2015 Delmarva Folk Festival. Visit him at www.toddchappelle.com.
Aaron Nathans is a Philadelphia-based alternative folk music singer, songwriter and recording artist with a distinct sound, due in large part to a combination of rhythmic acoustic guitar, wide-ranging baritone vocals and beautiful melodies that you won’t soon forget. When pairing that with talented songwriting that touches on everyday life and easily connects with audiences, you’ll see why Aaron is someone you won’t want to miss.He creates an unforgettable listening experience that keeps audiences on the edge of their seat.
