About the event

Don Armstrong has been hailed as a “Tucson legend” and “folk treasure,” and has performed in clubs, coffee houses, concert halls, and festivals across the US, as well as on tv and radio. His voice, according to one critic, “has an inherent sweetness (along with) an ability to sing seamless lines, the sign of a master singer,” while another simply said, “he has the voice of a twenty-five-year-old.” The Arizona Daily Star referred to him as a “consummate songwriter,” and his original songs, which have a Southwestern, traditional Americana flavor with a 1930’s flair, have been recorded by artists nationwide and sung and enjoyed worldwide. Playing guitar and five-string banjo, Don was part of the duo Don & Victoria Armstrong for 42 years before Victoria’s passing in 2014. Together, they recorded ten albums, each one receiving national acclaim. The Ronstadt Record Company recently released Don’s first CD, “Mother Don’t Give Up On Me Now.”

With nigh on to fifty years of songs – both his & Victoria’s – guitar and 5 string banjo in hand, Don has hit the road once again, singing his songs of the Southwest and Old Mexico, tunes from the ’20s & ’30s and his beautiful original songs that have been hailed worldwide.

About Liz & Pete

She's Liz, he's Pete, they are Liz & Pete. Liz Cerepanya and Peter Dalton Ronstadt join musical forces to explore material old and new. Liz's heartfelt voice with Pete's haunting harmonies and rich guitar arrangements captivate the mind and tug at the heart.

The History

After a few passing introductions in their shared music scene, Liz Cerepanya joined Peter Dalton Ronstadt on stage at Monterey Court in Tucson in the fall of 2019. They had had a brief opportunity to work up a couple of songs, including Rodney Crowell's Leaving Louisiana in the Broad Daylight, and an instant musical match was realized. The  decision to make a record together was easy and quickly Liz & Pete began exploring material including the timeless songs of Alan Garr, songs of their favorite songwriters and singers, new and old compositions by Pete as well as classic songs from his father Michael Joseph Ronstadt's repertoire. Liz & Pete's natural element is just the two of them on stage accompanied by an acoustic guitar and the Pennsylvania Stompbox. But often you can find them also accompanied by Ronstadt Record's own The Co.
